Autumn

In autumn comes the year to its decrepitude
When grass goes dry in a mellow hue.
I leans upon the bridge, beholding the world in solitude,
The slumberous flow of the river
And the soft glow of the setting sun.
Across the arch of the sky
Sail flocks of geese.
And the autumnal hills far and nigh
Please the lotus-gathering girls.
They've finished their summer routines,
And come to enjoy the chrysanthemums
As that ancient poet has done.*
